Walking down the street in Vietnam today visitors
can not easily find a scooterist as previous years. With a high using
density of motorcycle (80%), roads are getting smaller and chock-a-block
with bikes. If you used to see the traffic-jam with a long row of
cars in developed countries, you will find the same traffic problem
but with bikes in Vietnam. Time after time, motorbikes are imported
more and more and vietnamese tends to wish to own a modern bike more
than to have a historic one for daily using. Most of vespa are in
Ho Chi Minh city and all of the famous quality restoration shop are
located here, over 20 shops big and small. Of course there are others
scattered in nearby provinces and countryside area but you can not
find them as easily as in Ho Chi Minh. Specially you will find that
it is more difficult to buy vespa in Da Nang or Hai Phong province
(two provinces in the North) because they are holding them for a
historic purpose as in showrooms for foreign visitors or for tourism
purpose.
To an old statistic, fifty nine thousands scooters had been exported
to Vietnam by Piaggio Corp, Italy. It included all model from lambrettas,
VBBs, VBCs, VLBs, GS, ACMA, 50cc, 125cc, 150cc, 175cc, 200c,…. Vietnam
have never produced these bikes and will never. So the question is
where these bikes are now?. They have gone abroad as same as the
way they came to this country. Many foreigners have come to Vietnam
and take most of them, the higher level was happenning in recent
years. Many with different purposes: someone who came to find a business
with vespa actively, some visited Vietnam and found these bikes by
chance, some got married with Vietnamese and started business with
the help of forever friends….but not all of them are mechanics,
they even do not know much about vespa and how it works as well.
Many vespas coming out from Vietnam are in poor condition and this
causes many bad reputation. Why? Let me tell you some facts that
can make you clear partly: First most of the case took vespa directly
from along the streets in Vietnam for a cheap price at around 800$
or bought through sellers who also bought from this place and resold
for money. It is very dangerous because all these bikes were only
fixed partly and more important they were for domestics demand, means
Vietnamese who do not have a lot of money to buy, that’s why it has
such a cheap price to target the buyers. Vietnamese are willing to
buy these bikes for riding because it is cheap and when there is
a problem, they can return to have a free service/fixing. It is very
different for the international bikes which need the best quality,
reliable and last long forever. If you take such along the street
bike accidently, it is really terrible because problems are ofcourse
and you have to pay a lot of money for fixing or your mechanics even
can not fix the problem for you because they do not understand the
work.
Secondly, after assembling from a new restoring process these bikes
were not checked on the road enough as it should be. You know, when
restoring all parts are stripped down every piece, cleaned and reassembled,
no any skill mechanics can guarantee that the restored bike will
run perfectly without any adjustment after assembling. Why adjust?
New parts need to stay in bed with the new position and the more
checking on the road, you will find out problems and have necessary
adjustments the more it brings the endurance, it is true that the
more you ride the vespa the more it performs better because new parts
are happy with new positions now. Restoring bike for exporting need
completing with all new parts and time to ride checking
So what we have to do if we want to buy a vespa? Find a reliable
source or go to buy with a professional who understand about vespa
an engine, not all restoration shopss in Vietnam are bad but you
need to know who they are and it is really a WARNING that should
never buy vespa along the street or never bought through someone
who took from these and resold. When you have to come to buy from
shops in Vietnam, tell them that you want the USA or European STANDARDS,
not Vietnamese or chinese standards.
With over 40 years experience in restoring vespa, we have exported
hundreds to many countries and in recent 10 years our fully restored
bikes are for international exporting only, we have not restored
for domestics user any more because of our prestige. We test bikes
on the road carefully before shipping to solve any problems involved
because the bike is newly restored and need adjustments, it builds
our reputation chiefly and our vespa is not for days or months using
but it lasts for years after years. We use all parts imported from
England, Italy, India so long lasting quality is ofcourse. With the
source of bikes is reducing time to time, powderscooter is storaging
nearly two hundreds projects that can meet your demand. |
